Macmillan Cancer Care - Mighty Hike

I want to give you an update on the progress of the team that’s taking part in the re-scheduled (& sold out!) 26 mile hike on Saturday 28 August.  The route is from Callandar to Killin. 

Since forming the team earlier in the year we initially got together online to meet each other, share ideas for the best walking attire, consider how we will fund raise & agreed our training walks.

Since starting training we’ve already walked to Comrie & back, up to the white Hunting Lodge in Dunira returning via Loch Boltachan and most recently from Strathyre to Lochearnhead, via Balquidder - with Lochearnhead to Killin planned for next week.  I reckon when we add on our individual & family walks, we’ll already have clocked up at least 75 miles each, which is a fantastic effort.  I’d like to thank John Wilkie & Blair Cramond for their help in getting us to our starting points and rescuing us at the finishes. 

We’re asking for your help on the next part of our journey - the all important fund raising.  As a team we’ve pledged to raise £5000 for Macmillan Cancer Care & have set up a Just Giving page for donations.  Any donations to this page are considered a donation to the team, so there’s no need to feel you have to support us on an individual basis.

To support the fund raising we’re going to host some outdoor local home baking stalls in July - Lorna has agreed to co-ordinate this with support from Pamela. If you’d like to donate any baking, Lorna would welcome a call from you.  

Ulrika & Isobel from the team will also be raising awareness of the event around the village, which may encourage visitors to donate quickly via QR codes.  They’re also planning some collection tins for your spare change as Beer Clubs, Supper Clubs, Festive Days etc. start up again.
