Dàimh
We are so excited to be enticing the Gaelic Supergroup Dàimh (pronounced Dive) south of the Caledonian Canal. They are based around West Lochaber and the Isle of Skye and are unchallenged champions of straight-in-the-eye Highland music. They are twice winners of Folk Band Of The Year from the Scots Trad Awards and have numerous other accolades and awards to their name.
Giants of the bagpipes and fiddle, Angus MacKenzie and Gabe McVarish remain the lead instrumental force with fellow founding member Ross Martin underpinning the groove on guitar, with Murdo Cameron (Yogi) on mandola and accordion and a star of the Gaelic firmament, Ellen Macdonald on vocals. Think high energy contemporary and traditional music fusion along with slow laments and intricate arrangements.
Dàimh produce a driving powerhouse of sound, but never one which loses the subtlety and complexity of each instrument featured. It all comes together splendidly, with an intensity of feeling which only comes from a bunch of musicians who both understand one another and also genuinely understand their music.
This will be some night!!
