Redwood Mountain with Albi
Redwood Mountain is a duo featuring guitarist singer Dean Owens and traditional fiddle player Amy Geddes, who perform predominantly transatlantic folk songs. Most of them are built around the lyrics of the classic folk songs featured in The Book Of American Folk Songs by legendary archivist Alan Lomax. Redwood Mountain breathes new life into these wonderful old songs, reimagining them with new melodies. Add in a few Owens originals and some other transatlantic classics, stripped back to just vocals, guitar and fiddle, and you’ll find a heady brew – a pure and organic blend of the old with the new.
Dean Owens is one Scotland’s finest singer/songwriters. Armed with a searingly soulful voice, skilfully crafted stories and memorably heart-twisting melodies, he is a compelling and engaging live performer, with an emotional hurricane of stories and songs. His band, The Whisky Hearts, is a mighty all star line-up who can rock up a storm, with subtle flashes of roots and twang.
Amy Geddes plays fiddle, viola and sings. As well as being a talented live performer, she writes, records music and trains teachers across Scotland in delivering creative music classes in schools.
Redwood Mountain will be supported by wonderfully smoky voiced singer songewriter Albi.
